This Is A Personal Mission Born Out of Experience
When Kate Weiss was little, she was sick. Not like the standard sniffles or stomach bug that kids usually get. It was something different.. Something more severe and harder to diagnose. She spent months going in and out of hospitals, undergoing test after test as medical professionals struggled to identify her ailment. It was scary and isolating. Eventually, doctors were able to diagnose her illness and help her fully recover. Yet, even though she was “all better,” the experience still left Kate with scars of a different kind.
She was forced to reckon at all too young of an age that not all kids get a clean bill of health or get to stop going to the doctor. For some children, this is an unfortunate, relentless and challenging way of life. They don’t get to go back to playing or experiencing the joys of just being a kid like she did. This broke Kate’s heart. She vowed then and there to help children in these unfortunate circumstances get better and feel less scared and alone. In the long run, she plans to accomplish this by becoming a doctor, but in the short run, she is doing it through this organization.
